The Girl From Ipanema - solo guitar

It was inevitable, having on my YouTube channel at least ten, maybe fifteen or more, Jobim compositions arranged for solo guitar, it was time for the “Elephant in the room” to be recorded...

Here is a playlist with many of my Jobim arrangements... click here ... Enjoy!

Welcome to my weekly solo guitar arrangement! It was inevitable - having on my YouTube channel at least ten, maybe fifteen, Jobim compositions arranged for solo guitar - it was time for the "elephant in the room" of jazz standards, especially those of Jobim, to be recorded... Anyone who's ever played a set of "dinner music", i.e. where everyday working musicians get to play jazz, has been requested to play this song. Rarely does a jazz musician play this song by their own initiative as it is so over played. I can never hear it without thinking about the elevator scene in the Blues Brothers, lol! Anyway, it is a great tune, so here is my version. Musically, there is nothing really special here, mostly I'm following the original spirit of the tune, no unique chord substitutions... Guitaristically, though, there are lots of interesting passages that might be of interest to other players, let me know if you'd be interested in me producing a video lesson for this arrangement. As always, please "like", share, comment, and above all, enjoy
